Merry Christmas – New taxes move to final approval on Friday!

Update: it appears that Bruce Conque has canceled his request for an emergency meeting to ram through these new taxes. Just like we saw with the two-week vote on “fix the charter,” the delay is due to Bruce’s favorable votes crew not being available to attend the meeting. Look for this meeting to happen after the new year, with favorable votes from recently re-elected city council representatives Pat Lewis, Nanette Cook, and Liz Hebert.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 18, 2019

SPECIAL MEETINGS/ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MEETINGS SHOULD NOT BE HELD
DURING THE HOLY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY SEASON
RE:      RUSH TO CALL SPECIAL EDD MEETINGS

This is the Holy Christmas season for the public that we serve it is not a time for politics as usual.

As stated in previous e-mails sent to ALL council members, to ALL directors and to the Mayor/President, all were aware of the set schedule of when meetings would be heard and take place, especially during the holiday season in the month of December.

First and foremost, we should note that the citizens we represent have holiday plans already in place. It would be a DISSERVICE to call special meetings knowing that this is the Holiday Season and the citizens of this great Parish were not given amble notice of said meetings ahead of time, both of which are being called during the lunch hour.

Some of our staff, council  members and members of the public have made their plans for the Christmas Season.  I, myself, will be out of town until December 26, 2019.

All of our regular meetings have been fulfilled for the month of December. If an emergency of any type would come up, God willing it does not, then we need to schedule a meeting as approved by Legal.

At the very least, we can have some type of discussion on said special meetings after the Christmas Holidays.

WHAT IS THE RUSH?

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

God Bless everyone during this Holiday Season!

Vee,

Please schedule with appropriate notice special meetings of the EDDs approved by Council last night.  The first meetings are to be set for Noon, Friday 12/20 and the second series on Monday 12/23 at Noon.

I apologize for any confusion for earlier emails.  I thought I was acting correctly on submissions from attorneys.
