Citizens, whose executive director is ... Michael Lunsford, is a conservative "good government" operation that started in Lafayette and is expanding across the state. Its latest crusade is pushing for tighter controls on the books and other materials minors are allowed to access in public libraries.
Citizens for a New Louisiana has been systematically placing conservatives on volunteer commissions such as the Lafayette Parish Library Board of Control and Bayou Vermilion District, where they now have majority control.
The group that started the hubbub over in Lafayette Parish is called Citizens for a New Louisiana. And I know the players. And I had been monitoring who’s involved in all of this.
I can understand why someone would try to duplicate what they are doing at Citizens but alas, that's a trap. They make it look easy. It isn't.
