I can understand why someone would try to duplicate what they are doing at Citizens but alas, that's a trap. They make it look easy. It isn't.
Lunsford and CNL have had an outsize influence on Louisiana libraries.
We're continuing our bi-monthly (every other week) lunch meetings at Vermilionville. At this meeting we'll be talking about engaging with your local community for the betterment of local government. If you've attended any of our January lunches, you should have received a google map with your neighborhood / precinct. We'll be reviewing how you can use these maps and other data to help us educate the local community. If you haven't received your map yet, shoot us an email. We've been charging $13 for the buffet style lunch, however, that rate didn't include tax or coffee. As a result, we've been losing about $2 per person. So, moving forward, the new rate will be $15 per person. Hopefully, that'll allow us to break even on these lunches. Vemilionville is continuing the seafood tradition at least until the end of Lent (March 2nd - April 14). The $15 plate lunch this week will include their very popular seafood cornbread (which is like an étouffée style seafood stuffing with shrimp and crawfish), Fried Catfish, vegetable side, and a buttermilk biscuit. Chicken and sausage gumbo, iced tea, and bread pudding will also be available. Vemilionville will begin offering seafood gumbo as a lent option starting in March. As usual, we'll need a good headcount for the food, so please let us know you're coming as well as how many guests you're bringing. We can still accept cash or checks at lunch, or you can also use a card to cover the cost of your lunch in advance.
Mark your calendars for the next Voting Systems Commission meeting in Baton Rouge. It's being held at 10:00am in Senate Committee Room E at the Capitol. If you'd like to attend, you're welcome to park at our office at 530 Lakeland Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70802, or in the parking lot across the street. Street parking is reserved for Spanish Town residents. So, don't park on the street or you could be ticketed.
We'll be catering in breakfast from Chick-Fil-A, and will need a good headcount for the food, so please RSVP below if you're coming and indicate how many guests you're bringing. This is a free gathering, but please chip in if you'd like to help cover the expense.
