This week, Jensen Young offers daily prayer focuses for November 7–13, including Louisiana’s Congressional candidates, state and national Republican leaders, pastors, church members, and fundraising efforts.
Throughout the remaining weeks, Jensen also asks readers to continue praying for State Representative Gabe Firment in Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District and State Senator Blake Miguez in the 6th.

November 7–13: Louisiana Runoff Prayers
by Jensen Young
Continuing prayer: Pray daily through December 12 for State Representative Gabe Firment in Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District, State Senator Blake Miguez in the 6th District, and the organizations and volunteers supporting their campaigns.
November 7, 2026 — LSU and First Lady Trump: Pray for LSU to beat Alabama in football and for First Lady Melania Trump’s visit to Louisiana to be successful.
November 8, 2026 — The Faithful at Church: Thank and pray for the little old lady at church who reminds you to vote pro-life no matter what. These ladies and their friends who didn’t move to Texas were the ones who held the line on Tuesday to make sure Louisiana didn’t become Texas.
November 9, 2026 — Louisiana Baptist Convention Pastors’ Conference: Louisiana Baptist Convention pastors gather today in Lake Charles, and the full convention meets Tuesday, November 10. Pray for Southern Baptist pastors to be bold in delivering the gospel and reminding members to vote again on December 12.
November 10, 2026 — Steve Scalise: Pray for Leader Steve Scalise and his team as they lead Republicans going forward.
November 11, 2026 — Speaker Mike Johnson and His Family: Pray for wisdom in governing, for his efforts involving Louisiana’s two open U.S. House races, and for his future. Pray also for his family and the sacrifices they’ve made.
November 12, 2026 — Congressman Clay Higgins: Pray for Congressman Higgins, his family, his legislative efforts, and his campaigning in Louisiana’s two open U.S. House races.

Behind Every Blade of Grass
There’s a running joke around our office that Citizens for a New Louisiana is hiding behind every blade of grass. We’ve heard stories about government officials reconsidering questionable decisions because they were worried we’d find out. That’s a remarkable return on an investment we never made: "reaping where we did not sow, and gathering where we scattered no seed." But there’s something important in here, too.
Our little flashlight has earned us a reputation for bringing things to light. Now many officials act as if someone is watching, even when there isn't. That’s the real value of our government transparency work. It's more than just exposing wrongdoing after the fact. We've created an environment where public officials think twice.
Of course, we can’t actually be behind every blade of grass. There are thousands of public meetings, countless government transactions, and more questionable decisions than our small team could ever hope to investigate. But with your help, we can keep them wondering.
If you believe government works better when someone is paying attention, please consider supporting our work.
