Our 2026 Midterm Prayer Guide enters its final full week before Election Day, with daily prayer focuses for October 25–31 and our weekly bonus prayer. This week, we’re praying for Republican candidates in Michigan and Ohio, Speaker Mike Johnson, state legislative races, campaign messaging, absentee voters, and races from New York and New Jersey to Iowa and Nevada.

October 25–31: The Final Full Week

by Jensen Young

Bonus prayer: Michigan and Ohio: Since Michigan hosts Ohio State in women’s soccer on October 30, it’s a great reminder to pray for all the Republican candidates in both states as they are getting early votes, especially US Senate Candidate Mike Rogers in Michigan and US Senator Jon Husted of Ohio and the GOP Governor candidates Congressman John James in Michigan and Vivek Ramaswamy in Ohio. Of note: even though Ohio resident Vice President JD Vance is not directly on the ballot, pray for him, his family, and the travels they are making on behalf of Republican candidates.

October 25, 2026 — Speaker Mike Johnson: On this day in 2023, Mike Johnson became Speaker of the U.S. House. Pray that he remains Speaker in 2027 and beyond, and that wherever he is today, he is reminded that people all over Louisiana and the nation are praying for him and for Republican members of Congress to score victories on Election Day.

October 26, 2026 — New York: There are 26 members of New York’s U.S. House delegation. We’ve already prayed for some of its members and candidates, but today we pray that the New York Republican delegation continues to grow. You can also specifically pray for your favorite New York Republican.

October 27, 2026 — A Time for Choosing: On this day in 1964, Ronald Reagan gave his famous speech, “A Time for Choosing.” Pray that voters choose wisely in November and make Republicans victorious not only in Louisiana but across America, especially in New Jersey, where Congressman Thomas Kean Jr. of the 7th District could use an extra prayer or two for his voters to get out.

October 28, 2026 — State Legislatures: We currently have 28 Republican State Senators in Louisiana out of 39. Pray for your favorite one. Many states, including Utah and Idaho, also have state legislative races that could use a prayer or two alongside the prayers for Congressional races in those states and around the country.

October 29, 2026 — Campaign Messaging: Pray for the various media interviews and advertisements by Republican candidates, the GOP, and outside groups supporting Republican candidates to be effective. Pray especially for Republican victory in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District with Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

October 30, 2026 — Absentee Ballots and the Trump Family: Today is the deadline to request an absentee ballot in Louisiana, and it’s Ivanka Trump‘s birthday. Pray for voters casting absentee ballots in Louisiana and other states to vote Republican, and pray for the Trump family’s efforts to elect Republicans to be successful.

October 31, 2026 — Nevada Day: In 1864, Nevada entered the Union, and today is known there as Nevada Day. Pray for a Republican sweep of statewide offices, with Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo leading the way, and for a Republican sweep of Nevada’s four Congressional districts.

Coming next: November 1–4. Election Day is almost here.

Facts First. Even When They’re Inconvenient.

Some outlets or groups tell you what to think. Others have discovered there’s an easier way to build an audience: tell people exactly what they want to hear. We’ve chosen a harder path.

At Citizens for a New Louisiana, we start with the evidence — public records, financial disclosures, court filings, voting records, audits, and original documents — and follow it wherever it leads. Sometimes the facts confirm what we expected. Sometimes they surprise us. Sometimes they disappoint our friends. Either way, we publish them.

That approach doesn’t always produce the loudest headlines or the easiest fundraising. But over time, it produces something much more valuable: TRUST. If you value independent Louisiana journalism that puts evidence ahead of outrage and principle ahead of tribe, please help us continue the work.
