Midterm Prayer Guide: October 18–24

Our 2026 Midterm Prayer Guide continues this week with daily prayer focuses for October 18–24, along with our weekly bonus prayer. This week, we’re praying for Republican candidates in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, voters casting ballots by mail, the start of early voting in Louisiana, key races in Alaska and California, and rural communities across America.

If you’re just joining us, you can follow along with the complete 2026 Midterm Prayer Guide, with daily and weekly prayer focuses through Election Day and beyond.

October 18–24: Voting Begins

by Jensen Young

Bonus prayer: Wisconsin: Early voting starts in several states this week, including Wisconsin, where we pray for the entire Republican US House Delegation, especially US Congressman Bryan Steil of the 1st District and Congressman Derrick Van Orden of the 3rd District, to win re-election and for current Congressman Tom Tiffany to win the Governor’s race.

October 18, 2026 — Mail-In Voting: Most seniors in Louisiana who are eligible for mail-in voting should have their ballots by now. Pray for voters casting ballots by mail to vote Republican in droves, whether in Louisiana or other states with some version of mail-in voting.

October 19, 2026 — Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania has 19 electoral votes, and we have already prayed specifically for some of its members of Congress, but today we’ll repeat the process. We pray for the U.S. House Republican delegation in Pennsylvania not only to retain all 10 current members, including those in likely tighter races — Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick in the 1st District, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie in the 7th, Congressman Rob Bresnahan in the 8th, and Congressman Scott Perry in the 10th — but also to grow.

October 20, 2026 — Early Voting Begins in Louisiana: Today is the first day of early voting in Louisiana. Pray for Republicans of all stripes here in Louisiana, including the 136,591 people who voted for Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming in the June primary, to come out and vote Republican early, from the top of the ticket in the U.S. Senate race all the way through whatever constitutional amendments might be on the ballot.

October 21, 2026 — Nick Begich and Alaska: Today is Alaska U.S. Congressman Nick Begich‘s birthday. Pray for him and Alaska U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan to cruise to re-election victories despite the challenges of ranked-choice voting.

October 22, 2026 — David Valadao and California: California 22nd District U.S. Congressman David Valadao needs your prayers again, along with all Republicans in California. He is one of the targets of Governor Newsom‘s redrawn districts. Pray for Congressman Valadao, the other members of California’s Republican U.S. House delegation, and Republican Congressional candidates throughout the state.

October 23, 2026 — Rural America: Today is Day 3 of the Washington Parish Free Fair. Pray for the good people of Washington Parish to continue voting Republican and for local Republicans representing rural parishes, counties, and boroughs across Louisiana and America to win big.

October 24, 2026 — Make a Difference Day: It is Make a Difference Day. Pray that Republicans are making enough of a difference to motivate Republican-leaning voters to go out and vote Republican, especially in Congressman Juan Ciscomani‘s 6th District of Arizona.

Coming next: October 25–31, our final full week before Election Day, with Mike Johnson, New York, Ronald Reagan, state legislatures, campaign messaging, absentee voting, and Nevada.

Facts First. Even When They’re Inconvenient.

Some outlets or groups tell you what to think. Others have discovered there’s an easier way to build an audience: tell people exactly what they want to hear. We’ve chosen a harder path.

At Citizens for a New Louisiana, we start with the evidence — public records, financial disclosures, court filings, voting records, audits, and original documents — and follow it wherever it leads. Sometimes the facts confirm what we expected. Sometimes they surprise us. Sometimes they disappoint our friends. Either way, we publish them.

That approach doesn’t always produce the loudest headlines or the easiest fundraising. But over time, it produces something much more valuable: TRUST. If you value independent Louisiana journalism that puts evidence ahead of outrage and principle ahead of tribe, please help us continue the work.
