2026 Midterm Prayer Guide, reprise — now with bonus prayers.

As tempted as I am to opine about college football, my two alma maters, Louisiana Tech and LSU, are playing each other on Saturday this week, so I will resist the temptation for now. Some of my thoughts would probably annoy my Northwestern State University friends, like fellow guest Hayride columnist & dear friend Keith Gates, who covets your prayers for his District Attorney race in Winn Parish, and my Clemson friend Chad Connelly, who missed the football game in Baton Rouge last week because his travel schedule was too busy with his great work at Faith Wins. If you look at Faith Wins’ travel calendar, you’ll notice they are going into several critical districts & states we pray for in the midterm Prayer Guide.

Before I forget, I want to thank everyone for the very positive responses to the 2026 Midterm Prayer Guide and, most importantly, for the prayers for Republicans to grow the majority in the US House and the US Senate, as well as for other key races & voting groups covered. Since we took it to print a few weeks ago, a few things have happened.

1. Our friend, US House Speaker Mike Johnson, has launched a website called Contrast for America. Geaux check it out if you haven’t. When you go to the US vs. Crazy link, 42 common-sense Republican candidates are listed. Most of them are already found in the prayer guide, but we didn’t have Congressman Jeff Hurd of Colorado, Congressman Bill Huizenga of Michigan, Republican nominee for Congress Anthony DiLorenzo of New Hampshire in CD 1, Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz of Texas (Of note: We pray on Sept. 29 for her brother Carlos De La Cruz‘s victory in his race for Congress), Congressman Rob Wittman of Virginia, and Congressman Bryan Steil of Wisconsin.
2. New Hampshire held its Republican primary on Tuesday, September 8. GOP Governor Kelly Ayotte is up for re-election, former and hopefully US Senator again John Sununu is now the Republican US Senate nominee, and Anthony DiLorenzo won the Republican nomination for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District.
3. Our good friends at Citizens for a New Louisiana have e-blasted a weekly version of this prayer guide. It gets sent out on their social media accounts on Saturdays. You can find this week’s version at https://www.newlouisiana.org/2026-midterm-prayer-guide/#prayer-week-september-6
4. I’ve been reminded of the importance of all sorts of legal matters, whether it’s the court case in Missouri affecting Congressional lines, going to a prayer vigil Tuesday night in New Orleans for Louisiana v. FDA, or all the legal drama with the Southeastern Conference and some of its member schools.

To remedy this, we have decided to add a bonus prayer each week.

The rest of this week until Sept. 12th: Courts: See #4 above & pray appropriately.

September 13–19: Virginia: Early voting starts in Virginia this week, so pray for the entire Virginia US House Republican delegation, especially US Congressman Rob Wittman of CD 1 and US Congresswoman Jen Kiggans of CD 2.

September 20–26: Michigan: Pray for Congressman Bill Huizenga to win re-election as well as the entire US House Republican delegation from Michigan and for the Wolverine State to elect Mike Rogers to the US Senate & Congressman John James to be its next Governor.

Sept. 27–Oct. 3: New Hampshire: The North Country Federated Republican Women in New Hampshire hold Soupfest this week in Conway. Pray for this event and for Republican women’s events across the country to be successful in helping Republicans be victorious and for the success of our NH GOP Candidates up and down the ballot, including Governor Kelly Ayotte, former and hopefully future US Senator John Sununu, and NH-01 Congressional candidate Anthony DiLorenzo.

October 4–10: Texas: The Texas State Fair & some critical races we prayed for on Sept. 29 still clearly need additional prayer (US Senate & Governor, US House 34 & 35). We also need to add Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz from the 15th District to the specific prayer list this week as you pray for the growth & retention of the US House Congressional delegation from Texas.

October 11–17: Colorado: Pray for the entire Republican Congressional delegation in Colorado to all be retained, especially for Congressman Jeff Hurd and for Congressman Gabe Evans, whom we pray for specifically on Saturday, Oct. 10. I’m sure Congresswoman Lauren Boebert and Congressman Jeff Crank would appreciate some prayers this week as well.

October 18–24: Wisconsin: Early voting starts in several states this week, including Wisconsin, where we pray for the entire Republican US House Delegation, especially US Congressman Bryan Steil of the 1st District and Congressman Derrick Van Orden of the 3rd District, to win re-election and for current Congressman Tom Tiffany to win the Governor’s race.

October 25–31: Michigan and Ohio: Since Michigan hosts Ohio State in women’s soccer on October 30, it’s a great reminder to pray for all the Republican candidates in both states as they are getting early votes, especially US Senate Candidate Mike Rogers in Michigan and US Senator Jon Husted of Ohio and the GOP Governor candidates Congressman John James in Michigan and Vivek Ramaswamy in Ohio. Of note: even though Ohio resident Vice President JD Vance is not directly on the ballot, pray for him, his family, and the travels they are making on behalf of Republican candidates.

November 1 through Election Day: TBD. We need to be sensitive to any last-minute prayer needs, though we don’t yet know what they are. If you are too busy helping Republicans, remember to pray for all the Republican candidates on your own ballot.

A lot can change between now and Election Day, and I’m sure this won’t be the last time we find something that deserves an extra prayer. We’ll continue adding these weekly bonus prayers as circumstances warrant. In the meantime, keep following the daily guide, add these weekly intentions to your prayer list, and don’t forget to pray for the candidates and issues on your own ballot.
