See? I told you so! Almost a month ago, I warned you about exactly what you saw happening this week with the Livingston Parish Library. If you don’t remember, check out our article: Will Livingston Have to Fire Michelle Parrish a THIRD Time?
On September 16, 2025, The Advocate’s Claire Grunewald reported that Attorney General Liz Murrill sued the Livingston Parish Library system over board president Jennifer Dorhauer’s botched handling of the July 15th meeting. That was the night library director Michelle Parrish’s tenure effectively ended. Technically, her contract ran through the end of July, but Parrish abandoned her post after the vote.
What Went Wrong on July 15
Although an executive session was on the agenda, Dorhauer failed to include a vote afterward. Because the vote wasn’t listed on the agenda, taking action amounted to an open meetings law violation. In Louisiana, boards like this must first vote to amend the agenda before taking unlisted action. Dorhauer skipped that step.
No one objected at the time — which counts as unanimous consent — but a formal vote was still required by law. That’s a basic procedure anyone with a modicum of common sense would have known.
Did the Library Clique Break It on Purpose?
Board president Jennifer Dorhauer wasn’t exactly neutral — she openly supported leftist library director Michelle Parrish and even voted to keep her on the job. We also know Parrish and our old friend Amanda “Banana” Jones are more than just friendly acquaintances. One telltale clue? They both hired the same attorney, Alysson Mills.
Jones once sued us for questioning why she defended vulgar books in the children’s section. Parrish, meanwhile, used Mills to threaten Livingston officials after losing her contract.
Almost immediately, Jones began organizing complaints to the Attorney General over the July 15th meeting. Regular readers may remember we’ve already caught her dabbling in payroll fraud — running her activist operations while on the clock at the Livingston Parish School System.
According to The Advocate, one of Jones’s allies filed the actual complaint that triggered Murrill’s lawsuit. I personally asked for copies of those complaints on July 24th. So far, no records have been produced, and my request is still “pending.”
A Quick Timeline
- July 15 — Meeting meltdown; Parrish quits after board vote.
- July 24 — Complaint filed with AG’s office (records request still unanswered).
- August 8 — Special meeting called to “fix” Dorhauer’s mistakes.
- September 16 — Attorney General sues library board, apparently unaware of the fix.
Cleaning Up the Mess
On August 8th, interim board president Jonathan Davis had to repair the damage. The board:
- Allowed new public comment, since some attendees might have left under the impression no vote would occur.
- Formally included a vote on Parrish’s position on the agenda, gave proper public notice, and retook the vote.
- Voted and passed a proper motion to “not renew” Parrish’s contract.
All three steps corrected Dorhauer’s bungling. But parish attorney Christopher Moody never mentioned any of this in his response to the Attorney General. His silence, combined with Dorhauer’s incompetence (or intent), set the stage for the lawsuit.
A Comedy of Errors
The lawsuit filed by AG Murrill also does not refer to the August 8th “fix.” Sources now say the AG’s office is aware of it and working toward dismissal.
But here’s the ironic twist: Amanda “Banana” Jones’s complaint set up the Attorney General to sue over the mistakes of her ally, board president Jennifer Dorhauer. This is the definition of a circular firing squad — Livingston was sued because Jones complained about actions that Jones’s side caused in the first place!
The Real Question
The Livingston library “alliance” crowd has proven good at only one thing: chaos. They’ve made their allies look like fools and dragged the parish government into pointless litigation.
So here’s the question parish leaders should be asking: Why is the Livingston Parish School System still paying Amanda “Banana” Jones to undermine parish government?
