The idea of doing this has been in and out of my head for well over a year, but not until the last several days did it gel as a potential unifying piece for all Republicans and Republican-leaning voters here in Louisiana.
The reality is that, with the leadership responsibilities God has blessed Louisiana with in the U.S. House, we can’t be selfish and pray only about this election cycle in our own backyard, as important as home is. U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson’s Republican majority needs to grow, and at the same time, we need to maintain and grow a Republican U.S. Senate.
This prayer guide starts on the opening day of qualifying in Louisiana, August 5, 2026, and ends the day after the November 3 election. For those who live in Louisiana’s 5th and 6th Congressional Districts, don’t worry. I’m already starting to draft a prayer guide for the likely Congressional runoffs on December 12. I’ll finalize and release that after November 3, depending on what is needed.
On a personal note, I appreciate all the prayers, votes, and financial support many of you have given two of my dear friends, Congresswoman Julia Letlow — likely our next U.S. Senator — and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, as well as U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Congressman Clay Higgins.
Hopefully, this prayer guide is a blessing and can be used as a resource not only here in Louisiana, but by others across the country as well.
August 5–8: Qualifying Begins
August 5, 2026 — Opening Day of Qualifying: Today is the opening day of qualifying here in Louisiana for elections for the U.S. House, District Attorneys, and other offices across Louisiana. Pray specifically for your favorite Republican who will be on this November’s ballot.
August 6, 2026 — 218: Today is the 218th day of the year, and as many of you know, 218 is the magic number required for a majority in the U.S. House. Pray for the Republican candidate to win your U.S. House seat, for Republicans to secure well over 218 seats in this year’s midterm elections, and for the Tennessee primary election underway today.
August 7, 2026 — Congressman Ryan Mackenzie and Pennsylvania: Congressman Ryan Mackenzie is the incumbent member of Congress for Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District and is in one of the most competitive Congressional seats in America. Today isn’t the only day we’ll pray for Pennsylvania Republicans, as the Keystone State is critical to maintaining and growing the U.S. House majority, but please specifically pray for him and Pennsylvania Republicans today.
August 8, 2026 — Congressman Gabe Evans and Colorado: Congressman Gabe Evans of Colorado’s 8th District was one of the few Republicans in 2024 who flipped a previously Democratic-held seat. He and Colorado Republicans covet all the prayers you can give them today for Congressman Evans’ re-election and for other Republican candidates across Colorado.

August 10, 2026 — Faithful Congressional Incumbents: We often don’t pray enough for the faithful Republican members of Congress who consistently win re-election by 10 points or more. If you know one of them, pray for that person specifically. If you don’t, pray for the Republican you admire most who consistently wins re-election handily.
August 11, 2026 — Minnesota and South Carolina: Today is the Minnesota primary and the special U.S. Senate Republican primary in South Carolina following the death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. Pray for the Graham family, especially for Darlene in her service in the U.S. Senate; Republican Majority Whip Tom Emmer; likely Minnesota GOP U.S. Senate nominee Michelle Tafoya; and for the process in South Carolina to be successful in retaining Republican seats there.
August 12, 2026 — World Elephant Day: Today is World Elephant Day, and as many of you know, the elephant is the official symbol of the Republican Party. Pray for local, statewide, and national Republican efforts to help make November 3 the best GOP Election Day ever in the United States.

Please pray for the Land of Lincoln to increase the number of Republicans elected to the U.S. House and to increase Republican representation in other elected offices throughout Illinois.
August 18, 2026 — Wyoming, Alaska, and Florida: Wyoming, Alaska, and Florida all have primaries today. Pray for the right candidates to get through these primaries, whether it’s incumbents Alaska Congressman Nick Begich and U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan dealing with ranked-choice voting, or Congresswoman Harriet Hageman seeking a promotion to the U.S. Senate, along with Florida U.S. Senator Ashley Moody, who is also on the ballot today.

Pray for the planning of this convention, its success, and the fundraising that will go on there. Pray that it will help remind Dallas Cowboys fans, rival fans, and non-football fans alike to come out and vote for Republican candidates, including the 23 Republican members of the Problem Solvers Caucus, led by Pennsylvania’s 1st District Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, who definitely needs your prayers today for his re-election.
August 22, 2026 — The U.S. Senate: Of the 35 U.S. Senate seats on the ballot this year, 22 are currently held by Republicans. Pray that number increases, and pray for your favorite Republican U.S. Senate candidate on the ballot this year.

November 1, 2026 — All Saints Day: It’s All Saints Day, and the New Orleans Saints have a bye week. Pray for Catholic voters to turn out in droves for Republicans not only here in Louisiana, but nationwide.
November 2, 2026 — The Day Before Election Day: Tomorrow is Election Day, so I encourage you to pray for the Republicans you have either already voted for or will vote for tomorrow. As for those of us who live in Louisiana, please pray for Congresswoman Julia Letlow’s success in becoming our next U.S. Senator. After you’re done praying, it’s okay to remind a few folks to go vote tomorrow.
November 3, 2026 — Election Day: It’s Election Day, so if you haven’t voted, go vote. While you should pray for Republican voters to turn out in droves, it’s also perfectly fine to remind your friends and family to go vote Republican today as well.
November 4, 2026 and Beyond — The Count Continues: It’s Richard Hudson’s birthday. He chairs the National Republican Congressional Committee. Pray for the states that are still counting ballots and for places like Louisiana, where it’s likely we will have a couple of Congressional runoffs.
